Jenna Bush Hager under fire for 'body shaming' man in Speedos

Jenna Bush Hager has been called out after she seemingly body shamed a dad during a segment on the Today show. The 43-year-old mom-of-three had been hosting an episode of Jenna and Friends last week alongside Dwyane Wade when the pair gave their verdict on men wearing Speedos. The topic, which was discussed in the show's Internet's Divided segment, was thrust into the spotlight after New York City dad Tyler Moore went viral for wanting to normalize dads wearing the swim shorts. During the segment, Jenna voiced her distain for the swimwear. 'If my husband brought out a Speedo, I'd be shocked,' she said. 'And by the way, a man thigh?' Dwyane then quipped: 'Yeah, a hairy man thigh, nobody wants to see that.' Before the segment moved on, a photo of Tyler and his children popped up on screen which led to Jenna commenting: 'And I would just say, not every dad looks like that model dad that we just put on TV.' Following the episode, Tyler has now hit out at the remarks and said that it was 'surreal' to have his 'body publicly discussed and shamed on national television.' She had been giving her verdict on dads wearing Speedos when she past comment on New York City dad Tyler Moore Taking to threads, he wrote: 'Last week, my decision to wear a Speedo while lap swimming and open water swimming was discussed on The Today Show. 'During the segment, Jenna Bush Hager commented, "No one wants to see hairy man thighs," and followed up by saying, "Not every dad looks like that model dad," referring to a photo of me in the suit. 'It's a surreal experience to have your body publicly discussed and shamed on national television.' Tyler's comments were part of a larger post about body shaming, in which he urged the media and others to stop commenting on women's bodies. 'Seeing women tearing other women down over gaining or losing weight is insane to me,' he wrote. 'Seeing men even having an opinion on this is even more insane to me. 'Is being taught if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all a thing of the past? SMH. 'Nobody wants to hear your thoughts on their body, so let's please try to make this world a *sliver* of a better place by not tearing down someone you may or may not know.' Responding to Jenna's comments, Tyler said it was 'surreal' to have his body 'publicly discussed and shamed on television' Tyler's followers were sympathetic to his ordeal and expressed their sorrow. Taking to the comments, one said: 'That is horrible! They should be ashamed of that. We know better these days!' 'Whoa!!! That's super uncool!!! I'm sorry that happened,' another wrote. A third continued: 'Okay boys. You know your mission. Start flooding Jenna Bush Hager's social media with pics of hairy man thighs.'

Epstein lawyer says Ghislaine Maxwell knows ‘everything' and should get immunity to testify to Congress

Jeffrey Epstein 's former defense lawyer wants the financier's co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, to receive immunity if she testifies before Congress. Maxwell, 63, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after she was convicted of child sex trafficking and other charges in 2021 in connection with Epstein. Now, attorney Alan Dershowitz says she 'knows everything' about Epstein's sex trafficking case and is prepared to testify before Congress — if she's granted immunity. 'She knows everything. She is the Rosetta Stone. She knows everything. She arranged every single trip with everybody. She knows everything,' Dershowitz said on Fox News Sunday. 'If she were just given use immunity, she could be compelled to testify,' he added. 'I'm told that she actually would be willing to testify, and there'd be no reason for her to withhold any information.' Epstein died by suicide in a New York City jail cell on August 10, 2019, while facing federal sex trafficking charges. He had pleaded guilty to separate prostitution charges in 2008. Dershowitz says he doesn't see 'any negative' in granting Maxwell immunity to discuss her co-conspirator. The Trump administration has come under heavy fire this month after the Justice Department and FBI said officials would not release any more evidence related to the Epstein investigation. The agencies also claimed that Epstein did not keep a 'client list,' even after Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested the document was on her desk months prior. Amid the backlash, Trump ordered Bondi to unseal grand jury testimony related to Epstein. The Justice Department filed that request with a federal judge on Friday. Meanwhile, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are calling for the administration to release more information on Epstein.

Freezing Rent Is Easy. Making NYC Housing Affordable Isn't.

Among the campaign promises that helped propel Zohran Mamdani to the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City, his pledge to 'freeze the rent' is at once the most radical sounding and the easiest to accomplish. In fact, it's been accomplished multiple times over the past decade. The mayor chooses the nine members of the city's Rent Guidelines Board, which every year determines the allowable rent increase for the city's nearly 1 million rent-stabilized apartments. The members' terms are staggered, so a new mayor can't replace them all immediately, but with the two tenant representatives certain to favor a freeze, it would take only three of the five members appointed to represent the public to get to a majority (there are also two owner representatives, who would, of course, oppose a freeze). During Bill de Blasio's tenure as mayor, the board voted for no rent increases on one-year leases in 2015, 2016 and 2020 — as well as 0% for the first six months and 1.5% for the last six in 2021.

4 Ways To Foster Belonging And Well-Being In High-Pressure Workplaces

Margaret-Ann Cole is Chief HR & People Officer, Services for the UnderServed. In today's demanding work environment, cultivating employee wellness and belonging has become essential for organizational success. As the chief human resources officer at Services for the UnderServed (S:US), a New York City nonprofit managing a staff of 1,800 and providing $300 million in services annually, I've seen how prioritizing wellness creates thriving teams and stronger outcomes for those we serve. What's particularly important is ensuring employees—especially those in high-stress, high-responsibility roles—feel supported and connected. With the right environment, they can sustain their passion for work while maintaining personal well-being and meaningful connections. As CHROs, our responsibilities include nurturing and creating conditions for our people, organizations and the communities we serve to thrive. By implementing key strategies, we can significantly enhance employee wellness while improving satisfaction and productivity. Here are four proven approaches every organization should consider: 1. Embrace Preventative Healthcare The foundation of workplace wellness begins with comprehensive healthcare and regular preventative support. When employees prioritize their physical health, they build the resilience needed to thrive in demanding environments. People with strong physical health bring more energy to their work, engage more deeply with colleagues and clients, and have the physical reserves necessary to navigate high-pressure periods. Leaders can champion preventative care by creating supportive policies, like offering flexible time, providing wellness-related stipends and normalizing health-focused conversations (without requiring disclosure). At S:US, for example, we provide paid time off specifically for wellness appointments, send organization-wide reminders about preventative care during relevant health awareness months and share personal accounts of prioritizing health to model the importance of well-being. 2. Establish Movement And Wellness Programs Being physically active enhances cognitive function, which is vital for sustained engagement at work. Furthermore, when people engage in movement together, they build stronger interpersonal bonds. So establishing internal programs and initiatives can be an effective strategy for supporting employee wellness. We incorporate movement into our daily S:US operations. After noticing our staff is motivated by internal competition, we developed a "Beat the CEO" summer challenge where staff accrue points by exercising at the same level (or higher) than our top executive. The staff with the most points has a better chance of winning raffle prizes and other rewards. The key to success is creating an environment where physical wellness activities are viewed as investments in both individual thriving and team cohesion. When employees understand that their employer genuinely values their well-being, they develop stronger connections to the organization and their colleagues. 3. Strengthen Mental Health Support And Connection Mental health support is equally crucial when fostering belonging. Psychological well-being directly impacts how employees connect with others, contribute to teams and find meaning in their work. According to the American Psychological Association's 2023 Work and Well-being Survey, employees with access to mental health resources report higher job satisfaction and lower stress levels. Effective mental health initiatives that enhance belonging include: • Confidential counseling services with simple access protocols • Mental health awareness training • Resilience workshops that build shared language and understanding • Renewal programs that honor long-term commitment • Regular check-ins focused on both contribution and well-being Wellness programs with the greatest impact are often those that normalize mental health discussions, especially from the higher levels. When leadership openly acknowledges the mental or emotional demands of work and model healthy practices, employees feel empowered to prioritize their psychological well-being and support one another. 4. Encourage Affinity Groups To Deepen Community The profound power of community stands at the heart of belonging. Humans flourish through meaningful connections, drawing strength and purpose from shared experiences. When employees participate in workplace communities like affinity groups, their capacity for sustainable engagement grows exponentially. Affinity groups offer numerous benefits, including: • Fostering authentic relationships that transcend departmental boundaries • Creating psychological safety that enables innovation and growth • Providing perspectives that enrich both personal and professional life • Building cross-functional relationships that improve collaboration • Celebrating diverse backgrounds and experiences that strengthen work To encourage affinity group formation, leaders can survey employees about shared interests or identities, provide meeting spaces and modest budgets, offer executive sponsorship and, most importantly, give groups the autonomy to define their own purpose and activities. The Human Advantage Of Well-Being And Belonging As we navigate increasingly complex social challenges, a focus on employee wellness and belonging can become our greatest strength. The four strategies outlined above work in harmony to help create environments where employees connect meaningfully, sustain their commitment to work and flourish. Forbes Human Resources Council is an invitation-only organization for HR executives across all industries. Do I qualify?

Minneapolis Democrats endorse Somali-American socialist Omar Fateh for mayor just weeks after NYC branch chose '100% communist'

A Somali-American democratic socialist has clinched the Minneapolis mayoral endorsement just weeks after a '100% communist' was elected in New York City. Omar Fateh, a 35-year-old Minnesota state senator, won the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's endorsement for Minneapolis mayor on Saturday - an upset victory over two-term incumbent Jacob Frey that few saw coming, as reported by Axios. The win comes less than a month after 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani defeated New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary - a victory that prompted Donald Trump to brand him a '100 percent Communist lunatic.' 'I am incredibly honored to be the DFL endorsed candidate for Minneapolis Mayor,' Fateh wrote to X following the endorsement. 'This endorsement is a message that Minneapolis residents are done with broken promises, vetoes, and politics as usual. It's a mandate to build a city that works for all of us.' More than 1,000 party activists packed the Target Center on Saturday afternoon, where around 5pm, delegates cast their first mayoral endorsement votes via smartphone - launching a nearly two-hour vote tallying process by party officials. The suspense was palpable as attendees wondered if Frey - who led the city through the turbulent 2020 Black Lives Matter protests - would succeed in blocking the first Somali-American Muslim to serve in the state's senate. Mamdani's endorsement energized left-wing challengers, who celebrated the possibility of unseating Frey at the upcoming DFL convention - while others looked on with doubt and concern over the 'progressive uprising' in America's biggest cities. The potential shift in the nation's political landscape was on full display at this weekend's convention. Frey's supporters began abandoning the arena at about 9pm in protest, just as the results came in - Fateh had secured the endorsement. Not only did Fateh claim a seat at the mayoral table, but he also made history -becoming the Minneapolis DFL's first endorsement in a contested mayor's race since at least 1997, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune. Fateh captured 43.8 percent of the roughly 577 delegate votes, while Frey trailed with 31.5 percent, as reported by Axios. The socialist candidate ultimately secured over 60 percent of delegate votes at the convention, despite vocal complaints from the Frey campaign over the fairness of the process. Chaos erupted as Frey's campaign officials challenged the results, claiming the party's online delegate voting system had allegedly malfunctioned - pointing to a suspiciously low number of recorded votes. 'This election should be decided by the entire city rather than the small group of people who became delegates, particularly in light of the extremely flawed and irregular conduct of this convention,' Frey campaign manager Sam Schulenberg said in a statement, according to the outlet. 'Voters will now have a clear choice between the records and leadership of Sen. Fateh and Mayor Frey. We look forward to taking our vision to the voters in November, he added. Fateh has drawn increased attention following Mamdani's stunning - and surprising - victory over Cuomo in Manhattan's Democratic mayoral primary. Some have even dubbed him the 'Mamdani of Minneapolis,' according to the Star Tribune. The parallels are hard to miss: both Fateh and Mamdani are in their 30s, Muslim, democratic socialists and state lawmakers focused on making their cities more affordable and equitable. However, their rise in the political spotlight hasn't come without backlash - from both online critics and prominent, well-known faces. Former New York Giants player Carter Coughlin launched a savage attack on Fateh following his endorsement on Sunday, claiming that his policies of rent control and raising minimum wage would set Minneapolis back years. He also debated Fateh's credibility to become mayor with some of his followers. 'In a city that has endured unimaginable destruction and racial tension, these policies would set Minneapolis back another 10 steps,' Coughlin wrote. 'MPLS (Minneapolis) needs rebuilding, and this will do the opposite. Pray for wisdom.' Nevertheless, Fateh took to the arena floor just after 10pm to claim victory, declaring, 'Today, we witnessed a rejection of politics as usual,' as reported by Axios. We know the status quo are going to do anything and everything to maintain power, he added. 'They'll have all the money in the world - but they don't have you.' Though the final decision won't come until November, one thing is clear: Minneapolis is signaling a readiness for change - and big cities could be sparking the start of a broader movement.
